Do I NEED a safety valve system?

Jenn -- Sure, but the oven pilot has a cover or some type of protection system.

Sam, thanks so much for the kind words about the pictures. The camera is a Sony Cybershot DSC-F717. We've been very happy with it.

Ok, now I have to admit my ignorance. I am a blonde, female, left-handed, norwegian, attorney that loves kettle corn and now makes oatmeal in my thermowell every other day. That means I don't know a manifold from a pilot light. My mechanically inclined husband is a helicopter pilot and is currently flying in St. Louis. So, I have no idea if I have taken pictures of what you are looking for. If I have, feel free to use them. If not, please tell me where to go ... kindly, please.

Hi Lori, You did good. There is not much to see there anyway. Just the fact that there is a plug in the output hole on the thermostat that used to go to the oven pilot and the connection of the oven burner tube that goes across the top of the service cabinet, down the right outside wall and turns left to the new safety valve. thanks for the effort, but I now realize that there wasn't much to see. Lori, Thanks for the use of the photos. Yours are so much better than any I have taken with the old Sony. What kind of camera are you using?


Also, could you get a photo of the connection of the pilot tube to the gas manifold. I do not suggest using the original method, but it would be useful to display. It will be connected up high on the manifold. On some years, Chambers put a Tee between the pilot filter and manifold, on others, they drilled and tapped a new hole in the manifold and added another Gas Filter for the oven pilot. Would be interesting to see which one you have. Thanks so much, Sam

Sam, is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Jenn, I'm not sure. There is a round circle in the top that has something that feels like paper covering the hole from the back. Then it has another hole in the bottom. I don't know what any of it is for, but it seems to protect the pilot. Any one have any ideas?

Well, that papery textured stuff's bound to be more mica.

As for the rest, I think we'll need some more insight from Sam.
